This year the Nike Airmax 97 and streetwear brand UNDFTD both celebrate anniversaries. 2017 makes the 20th year since the release of Nike’s classic tennis shoe, the Airmax 97 and it is the 15th year since the emergence of the infamous UNDFTD as a the lifestyle line inspired by sports. To commemorate, the two brands have collaborated on a luxurious sneaker, not in material, but in style. The UNDFTD x Airmax 97 will be releasing in two colorways; an all black and an all white leather silhouette complemented by a green and red stripe on the upper that circumscribes the entire shoe with “UNDFTD” printed upon it in white, the colors pay homage to Italian fashion by representing the Italian flag.
This release appears to be much more appealing and will likely be much more difficult to get than the last collaboration between the two brands on the Air Jordan 8 “Take Flight” that released earlier this year. Both colorways of the Airmax will be released exclusively at UNDFTD on September 16th followed by a global release of the black colorway on September 21st. The retail price is set at $180 USD.
